The Big Shrimp
Instead of waiting for the inevitable to happen, weathering should be designed for. In this proposal, I focused on maximizing the weathering on the Qibla wall and minimizing it on the other flanking walls. This is done by channeling the water from the roof to either the Qibla wall or into a reflecting pool. The water flows slower as it goes toward the Qibla in order to pick up dirt and deposit it onto the wall via runoff stains, but it flows quickly as it goes into the pool for natural water filtration. The roof concrete also has metallic additives, making the runoff staining more pronounced.
